What is hurricanes/tropical cyclone?

hurricanes/tropical cyclone

Tropical cyclone/hurricane  is a rotating storm in the tropical ocean with the speed of 32 meter per second.

Hurricane/cyclones are rapidly moving storm system revolving around low pressure center as known as eye

They can effect large regions , are mostly in  100-2000km in diameter

Time period

A life span of tropical cyclone is on average 6 to 9 day but it can vary from hours to 3 to 4 week .

Known by different names

Tropical cyclone are know by different names in in different regions the most commonly  known as hurricanes in the Atlantic and Caribbean, typhoons in the West pacific ( china , Japan ,Philippine and cyclones in the South Indian Oceans or Arabian sea.
Cyclones are born in hot or humid environment of tropics eg. June to August in Caribbean and November to April in south pacific.

How hurricanes produce

Worm and humid air rises upward from the ocean , as these air leaves the oceans surface and less air left at ocean's surface and make low pressure at the ocean surface. Now the air from the surrounding area pushed to this low pressure area (air traveled from high to low pressure) so this new air become moist and and worm too and it rises upward too.
So basically this cycle continue and make large cyclones.
As the storm system rotates faster and faster an eye forms in the centre it is very calm and clear in the eye. With very low air pressure and his pressure air from above flows down into the eye.

Categories of cyclones based on  speed and destruction
As type of cyclone and speed are shown in diagrams below
